This has sparked a variety of diets and weight-loss methods, most of which are just not the right, or healthy, way to get the job done. 1. The ‘Breatharianism’ Diet
This insane method of weight loss is based on the theory that human beings can live on sunlight and breezy weather alone, without any other form of nourishing sustenance. The fact as we all know it is that if you don’t eat you will lose weight, but you won’t live very long. The creator of this diet claimed to have not eaten or drank for years, and she was challenged on this point. She took the challenge, and became severely dehydrated after only a very short time. The challenge was discontinued, and the diet was called bunk.
2. The ‘Tongue Patch’
Here’s a good one. This diet consisted of placing a patch the size of a stamp directly on the tongue, and would supposedly help the user lose up to 30 pounds of excess weight a month. How did it ‘work’? It made eating so painful that the wearer actually couldn’t eat, which would of course aide in weight loss. It caused infections, severe pain, excessive drooling, and even had the potential to choke people to death.
