9. Titanic – Costing $286 Million
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, Titanic is one of the most expensive movies ever made.
The film faithfully recreated the tragic voyage of the Titanic cruise ship, using period piece sets that were accurate to the ship’s actual design.
Though this was the most expensive film ever made when it came out, Titanic was also one of the most profitable movies ever released. It became a cultural phenomenon and is still widely enjoyed to this day.
10. Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End – Costing $332 Million
This was the third film in the Pirates series. Since the previous movies had done well, the studio decided to give Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End a colossal budget.
The movie ended up costing $332 million to film. This high price was partly due to the massive salaries that all of the main actors demanded, as well as the heavy reliance on special effects.
While the movie did do well, it was only met with mixed reviews from critics.
