The art of fighting has evolved in many different ways as a form of self-defense. There are differences in how people like to start out in a pose, defend and attack; as seen when looking at what each country and culture has as their signature marital arts style. Regardless of whether a specific fighting style is effective or not, there are many that can look pretty interesting to the general public eye – okay, they can come across weird to the general public.
Sometimes, it’s the attire that the fighting style requires. For example, the Japanese art of ninjutsu has the fighter dress in a black gown and cloak that is designed to be able to fade into the night after attacking. But the following 10 martial arts are considered stranger than simply wearing all black in an evening attack.

It is one of the most popular forms of wrestling in Japan and is consider their national sport where larger men grab each other in an attempt to push the opponent outside of the circle. Sumo wrestling becomes very entertaining when two large men, sometimes pushing 400 pounds each, collide and try to be the strongest in the encounter. The strange factor comes in since they are wearing what seems like a loin cloth.

Very similar in terms of men fighting nearly naked, but this martial art is big in India. This wrestling style requires intense training in places away from the larger public and requires a specific regimen before getting in the ring to grapple.
