6) Snaafi Dancer – $10.2 million (1983)
Having been bred by Donald T. Johnson was considered one of the most expensive horses sold in an auction at the time and was a rival to Coolmore Stud even during their respective sales. The unfortunate thing was that Snaafi Dancer turned out to be a bust in terms of horse racing. The trainers wouldn’t let him run after being so slow during the training sessions.
5) Meydan City – $11.7 million (2006)
Breeder Jayeff B. Stable was able to have this horse sell for nearly $12 million after having Kingmambo and Crown of Crimsons bore a colt.
