At 27 years of age, Jessamyn Stanley isn’t deterred by comments about her weight, choosing instead to inspire people of all shapes and sizes to be active. As a yoga instructor, she prefers to encourage those around her to question how they feel, and not how they look. Realizing the benefits of Bikram yoga which she began practicing as a teenager, Jessamyn went on to teach the gentle art – bestowing its benefits of increased flexibility and physical endurance, in addition to the ability to help reduce pain. Now with a strong online presence, she is able to inspire practitioners across the globe.
2. Triathlete – Krista Henderson
As someone who has always been plus sized, Krista Henderson is no stranger to the daily battle of focusing on what the bathroom scale has to say about her self image. All that changed for her in 2004 when she decided to stop focusing on weight loss in favor of adopting an active lifestyle. No halfway measures for this women, who took the bull by the horns and decided to start training for a Triathlon. Her accepting view of herself and hard work ethic when it comes to training is an inspiration to plus size people everywhere.
