Fact: This company would have never come into existence had its founders not gotten married.
James Procter and William Gamble just didn’t see eye to eye. They came from competing countries, but both ended up living in Cincinnati, Ohio, with one making soap and the other, candles. The markets they were in demanded they even compete for the items they needed to make their wares. Coincidentally, the both married into the same family, marrying sisters, and this resulted in them joining forces and going into business hand-in-hand. Hence, Procter & Gamble was born.

Fact: Ben & Jerry’s was supposed to be a bagel company.
Jerry Greenfield and Ben Cohen were high school classmates in the mid-seventies. Ben ended up being a college dropout, while Jerry seemed shunned from ever being accepted into medical school. Together they opened a bagel company, but soon came to the realization that they couldn’t afford the equipment they would need to make quality bagels. They ended up taking an ice cream-making course for five measly dollars, and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream was born.
