Highly valued for the spice which it produces, this crocus is priced by weight. The yellow stamen of this purple flower is what the Saffron is derived from, and it takes a full 80,000 flowers to produce just 500 grams of the pricey spice.
6. A 17th Century Tulip Bulb ($5,700)
Although common today, a tulip bulb in the 17th Century could net as much as $5,700. Primarily because of its’ color and rarity, it was regarded at this time as a status symbol.
