Free love is a concept that has been around for centuries. However, the movement really took off during the 1960’s and 70’s. At this time, free love became less about actual love and more about having as much sex as possible.
While this movement did eventually die down, it had one lasting effect on society. After the movement became mainstream, scientists developed the contraceptive pill. This allows women to enjoy sex without the risk of getting pregnant.
