7. The Biggest Gold Coin in the World
An auction in Vienna had this gold coin, worth more than $2.6 million, up for sale, and a Spanish firm dealing in precious metals ended up paying exactly its face value for it. It weighed over 250 pounds, and is one of only five ‘Maple Leaf’ Canadian coins of its size. There were no other offers for the coin, which also featured Queen Elizabeth’s portrait on it.
8. Winston Churchill’s Dentures
These may be the most expensive false teeth on the planet. They sold for $23,000, and were sold by Nigel Cudlipp, the son of the dentist who made them. Because he had a lisp, Churchill feared losing his teeth, and always kept a spare set readily available. He was also known to throw his teeth in response to war news.
