In some way, we’ve been enamored with the car chases in some of our favorite thrilling and action movies and TV shows that usually feature a large number of explosions, stunts and a variety of over-the-top moments. While we’ve seen these types of scenes change, so have the types of cars that we can remember even 30 years down the road; cars we started to put on our wish lists for when we would become rich.
Many of those cars were muscle types from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, while also combining a number of sports cars later on. The thing is that there are a number of vehicles that we still hold in high regard even years after their debut on screen. The following are the 15 best cars we fell in love with in television and movies.
1981 DeLorean DMC-12 – Back to the Future (1985)
In one of the classic films where Michael J. Fox’s character would get the DeLorean with winged doors to 88 miles per hour to provide the ability to travel back in time. It might not have been the fanciest and sportiest car in the film industry, but it was definitely one that saw it’s popularity grow in the 1980s.
1962 Volkswagen Beetle – The Love Bug (1968)
Disney’s famous No. 53 car Herbie definitely brought a lot of attention to the German model where the car was the one that stole the hearts of the audience away from the actors. Everyone loved the idea of having a little bug that could move around and react to people like the rest of us. It was the highest grossing film from 1969.
1966 Ford Thunderbird – Thelma and Louise (1991)
There were plenty of memorable moments for this light teal-blue car, with a number of police chase scenes. While it was a great performance between Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, the Thunderbird was the one that caught a lot of people’s attention; which made it that much sadder when it met it’s end by flying off a cliff in the desert.
