In such a fast-paced world, sometimes the value of “slow” is overlooked. While it may seem counter-intuitive that some animals have survived despite being slow, here is a list that showcases the value of slow. Sadly, some of them are being swept up in the fast-paced world we live in; many of the animals on this list are endangered.

10. Gila Monster

These lizards, famous for having a tail that looks like their head, making it difficult for predators to know which end to attack, are also the only species of lizard in the U.S. that is poisonous. These lizards move incredibly slow, at about 667 cm per second, and spend most of their time eating and sleeping.
